World Humanitarian Day 2025

On World Humanitarian Day 2025, we honour the courage and commitment of humanitarian workers who risk everything to help others. These individuals operate in some of the world’s most volatile environments, driven by a shared purpose: to save lives, restore dignity, and offer hope where it’s needed most.
This year’s theme—strengthening global solidarity and empowering local communities—serves as a powerful reminder that humanitarian aid must be safe, inclusive, and locally driven. It’s not just about delivering assistance; it’s about ensuring that communities have the tools, voice, and agency to shape their own futures.
Yet in 2025, humanitarians face unprecedented levels of violence and access constraints. From Gaza to Ukraine, responders are being targeted while trying to reach those in crisis. The risks are real, and the consequences are devastating—not only for aid workers, but for the millions who depend on them.
Saving lives shouldn’t cost your own. It’s time to protect those who protect others.
The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) stands in solidarity with frontline responders, working to ensure they have the connectivity and communications they need to operate safely and effectively. Our mission is rooted in enabling humanitarian action—because when responders are supported, communities are empowered.
