Tropical Cyclone Idai, the strongest storm to hit Mozambique since 2000, made landfall in Beira on March 14, 2019.
On 25 April 2019, Tropical Cyclone Kenneth made landfall in the Cabo Delgado province of northern Mozambique as a Category 4 storm with winds of up to 200 km/h. Mozambique’s National Disaster Management Institute (INGC) indicated that 30 000 people have been evacuated from high risk areas.
