Mozambique is experiencing widespread flooding driven by exceptionally heavy rains during the 2025/2026 rainy and cyclonic season.

Tropical Cyclone Idai- a category 3 cyclone- made landfall in Beira, Mozambique’s fourth largest city, on 14 March evening, bringing with it high wind speeds of up to 224km/h and heavy rains.
