Tropical Cyclone Idai, the strongest storm to hit Mozambique since 2000, made landfall in Beira on March 14, 2019. ETC partners ITU, Ericsson Response and the Government of Luxembourg have deployed ICT equipment and Télécoms Sans Frontière is providing connectivity at Beira airport. The Crisis Connectivity Charter has also been formerly activated for the first time, with Eutelsat and Imarsat providing additional satellite connectivity equipment and SES providing bandwidth to support efforts on the ground.
