Building stronger emergency response in the Solomon Islands

From 02 to 04 July 2025, the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC), led by the World Food Programme (WFP), delivered targeted communications training in Honiara to boost emergency preparedness in the Solomon Islands.

In partnership with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), the ETC hosted a three-day programme focused on radio communications and mobile satellite services. Designed to strengthen the capacity of the National Emergency Response Team (NERT), the training ensures responders can maintain critical communications when disasters strike.

A key feature of the training was the “Training of Trainers” component, empowering participants to pass on their knowledge across national response clusters—creating a ripple effect of resilience throughout the country.

Special thanks to the Government of France for its vital support in building stronger, more connected emergency systems across the Pacific.
