Mingkaman
Following the onset of violence in December 2013, approximately 100,000 people sought refuge in Mingkaman, predominantly coming from Jonglei State, particularly from the area around Bor. As humanitarian organizations settled at the IDP site, the ETC provided data connectivity at both the Humanitarian Hub and the Save the Children compound, improving coordination capacity of organizations on the ground.
Bor
As VHF towers were damaged during the 2013-14 conflict in Bor, Jonglei State, the ETC deployed maintenance teams to repair damaged equipment and to re-establish radio communications, increasing security in the field for humanitarians based in Bor.
Bentiu
In 2014, the influx of displaced people to Protection of Civilian (POC) sites increased dramatically in Unity State, leading to a corresponding increase in humanitarian presence. The ETC provided internet connectivity through the installation of satellite internet kits, as well as implemented a user management system to balance available bandwidth, ensuring sufficiently fast internet for humanitarian aid workers in Bentiu.
