Antananarivo, August 23, 2018 – today saw the inauguration of a new Telecommunications Operations Centre for Risk and Disaster Management in Madagascar. The new telecommunications centre will facilitate access to information to improve decision-making and speed of response in an emergency. The establishment of the centre was assisted by the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) which supports emergency preparedness and resilience of stakeholders, including the national authorities of countries vulnerable to natural disasters. The Government of Luxembourg is a key partner of the ETC and provided financial support for the establishment of the centre.
