Evaluation Report: Pacific Waves Training Alliance – Samoa, June 2025
Between 17–20 June 2025, three Pacific Waves Training Alliance modules were delivered in Samoa:
- Mobile Satellite Systems (MSS) End User,
- Radio Telecommunications Systems (RTS) End User
- Training of Trainers (ToT–EDIP).
Held at the 2AP Broadcasting Station in Apia, the training involved 22 participants from key national stakeholders (MCIT, MNRE, Office of the Regulator, Red Cross, NUS, and 2AP).
All 22 learners completed the MSS & RTS modules, with seven selected for ToT (EDIP). The EDIP (Explanation, Demonstration, Imitation, Practice) method was used throughout and proved effective. 18 participants (81%) completed post-training evaluations, confirming objectives were met.
Participants gained confidence in applying their skills to emergency response, while ToT trainees reported readiness to teach others. The programme strengthened Samoa’s emergency telecommunications capacity, inter-agency collaboration, and disaster preparedness.
