The Pacific Islands must set their own precedent for disaster preparedness. “As much as each disaster is unique, we can still learn from previous cyclones to better prepare for disaster events of the future,” says Hlekiwe Kachali, based in Fiji as the ETC Coordinator for the Pacific with the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) which is led by the World Food Programme (WFP).
